HETAM

HETAM stands for high-efficient tooling by additive manufacturing processes. This project is focused on developing a procedure for the production of injection moulds for prototype construction.
The project aims to combine the two additive manufacturing processes of selective laser melting (SLM) and Polyjet. The objective is to significantly increase both the stability of the mould inserts and the cooling performance, and to considerably reduce the necessary production time for the moulds compared to the SLM method alone. The aim is to achieve at least 1000 viable cycles using the mould.

The injection mould itself consists of three components:

  1. The cooling channel – produced using SLM
  2. The surrounding casting compound (matrix system)
  3. The outer skin – created using the Polyjet method

Planned project duration: 01 February 2019 to 31 January 2021
